Dorena Preschool provides a play-based approach to school readiness that is focused on the development of the whole child. Our qualified teaching staff create learning experiences that focus on children’s social, emotional, academic, physical and creative development, in partnership with parents and families. We are a part of Doren School, a public school serving students in grades Pre-K through 8, situated in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains southeast of Cottage Grove.

9:15-10:15: Recess/P.E.– Outdoor gross motor play; structured P.E. activities (w/P.E. teacher 30 min. Tues/Thurs)
10:15-10:30: Circle Time – Theme-related whole group lesson/activity
10:30-10:45: Small Groups – Small group instruction (math/literacy/STEAM/fine motor)
10:45-11:45: Choice Time – Free choice activities in centers
11:45-12:15: Lunch – Family-style meal served in classroom
12:15-12:30: Read-Aloud & Bathroom Break – Story time at carpet, bathroom break before rest time
12:30-1:20: Rest Time – Quiet rest time on mats, limited table choices for non-sleepers (math/literacy/fine motor/art activities at table)
