Raising a child is a remarkable journey, but every parent and caregiver needs a little support and connection sometimes.

At the Early Childhood Hub of Lane County, we want all parents to have access to the knowledge and tools to help them raise happy, healthy kids.

The list below includes classes and workshops for parents and caregivers in the following areas: Cottage Grove, Eugene/Bethel, Fern Ridge, Lowell, and Springfield.

Cottage Grove

  • Family Relief Nursery seeks to keep children safe through support and early intervention, strengthening families so all children thrive.

    Circle of Serenity (English & Spanish)

    This class is designed to assist parents to provide their children (0-6 years old) with the emotional support needed to develop secure attachment, resilience and enhanced school readiness. Family Relief Nursery provides childcare, meals, gift cards, a raffle drawing, and transportation assistance.

    Make Parenting a Pleasure (English & Spanish)

    This class is for families dealing with higher levels of stress. The group focuses on managing stress and building positive relationships with your children. Family Relief Nursery provides childcare, meals, gift cards, a raffle drawing, and transportation assistance.

  • The 90by30 Child Abuse Prevention Initiative, housed in the Center for the Prevention of Abuse and Neglect at the University of Oregon, is a community-campus violence prevention demonstration project.

    Parent and Community Cafes (English and Spanish)

    Parent and Community Cafes are structured, small group conversations for community building, healing within families, and peer-to-peer connections.

    • Who is this for? Families who have children at Camas Ridge Elementary, with a focus on preschool and elementary age; classes will also cover ages 12-17

  • Pregnancy Group (English & Spanish)

    The Mothers and Babies class is a 6-week course that begins in the second or third trimester of pregnancy.

    • Who is this for? Pregnant individuals with history of depression; open to the public

    • When: July 2024 - June 2025

    Positive Parenting Group (English & Spanish)

    The Positive Parenting groups focus on themes that include understanding your child's temperament, nurturing, and understanding challenging behaviors.

    • Who is this for? Parents of children ages 8 months - 3 years; open to the public

    • When: July 2024 - June 2025; 10 sessions

    Positive Solutions for Families (English & Spanish)

    The Positive Solutions class is focused on supporting parents who are struggling with challenging behaviors at home.

    • When: July 2024 - June 2025; 7 sessions, 2 hours each

  • Daisy CHAIN provides support and education to pregnant, birthing, and parenting individuals and their children.

    Baby POP Music

    The Baby POP Music program offers preschool and parenting support through music and movement classes. It is the only free music class for young children in the Eugene/Springfield area.

  • The ECCO Young Parent Program serves all pregnant and parenting 4J School District young parents who want to attend our program while going through their pregnancy and also those who currently need (or will soon need) childcare while they continue their education for graduation from high school.

    Nurturing Skills for Teen Parents

  • Daisy's Sign & Sign with Daisy CHAIN (English and ASL)

    Daisy’s Sing & Sign is a free interactive parent education-based program for parents alongside their children ages 0-6. The program creates opportunities for positive family interaction and gives families support in learning the stress relieving tools of singing and using sign language. Learning ASL is a bonding tool and helps decrease both parent and child frustrations by teaching an effective communication method; singing songs also increases parent/child positive bonding associations and provides a tool for the parent to help their child regulate emotions.

    Nursing Nook with Daisy CHAIN

    Nursing Nook is a free drop-in lactation/feeding education and support service for parents and emotional support from peers. The goal is to provide peer support, information, guidance and confidence in the parents’ feeding relationship with their infant/toddler, and normalize the nursing experience.

  • Social-Emotional Skills for Thriving and Relating at School (SSTRS)

    SSTRS curriculum is delivered by kindergarten teachers in 25-minute lessons during the school day. The 8-week school readiness curriculum concentrates on self-regulation, social skills, and emotion knowledge.

  • Head Start of Lane County is a dual generation early education program serving over 700 low-income families throughout Lane County. The program serves expectant parents and children until kindergarten. Services include high quality education, family support, medical, dental and behavioral health services, and nutrition services.
