2014 LaneKids Poster Contest!

May 19th through the 23rd is Parenting Education Week!Parenting Education Week is a state-wide recognition of the important role that parents play as their child’s first teacher. Of all the things that influence a child’s growth and development, the most critical is reliable, responsive, and sensitive parenting. Effective parenting education has been linked with decreased rates of child abuse and neglect, better physical, cognitive and emotional development in children, and increased parental skills and capabilities. To celebrate the importance of a parent’s engagement with their child, LaneKids is holding our annual LaneKids Poster Contest- and we want your kids to show us what they enjoy most about spending quality time with their parents! The theme of this year’s Poster Contest is “My favorite family activity is….” Kids can choose to use any medium they would like to express their favorite family activity on their poster, as long as it can be framed, hanged, and displayed for others to see.The top 3 winners of the contest will receive gift cards to either Elephant’s Trunk Toy Store, Dancing Weasel Toy Store, or Putters Pizza and Fun Center! The posters will also be displayed at United Way of Lane County for a Children’s Art Show following Parenting Education Week, so the public will have a chance to see you little artist’s work.
