WIC (Women, Infants & Children)

What This Organization Does

Lane County WIC helps pregnant people, parents, and caregivers get healthy food, nutrition education, and support for feeding their babies and young children. If you are pregnant, nursing, or caring for a child under age 5, you may qualify for WIC.

WIC offers breastfeeding and chestfeeding support from the beginning of your experience through weaning. You can get one-on-one support by phone or in person, join a monthly breastfeeding class, or drop in for weekly lactation support during Baby Check-in.

WIC also offers breast pump education and several pump options to meet your needs, including Hygeia and Medela pumps. Call 541-682-4202 to learn more.

WellMama

What This Organization Does

WellMama supports you during pregnancy, postpartum, infertility, and pregnancy or infant loss through peer support, support groups, and wellness services.

You can connect with trained peer support specialists who understand the challenges that can come with parenthood, including depression, anxiety, birth trauma, isolation, and parenting stress.

WellMama offers support groups, one-on-one peer support, and help connecting with local resources. Staff can help you find support, navigate challenges, and feel less alone during your parenting journey.

WellMama also partners with Women’s Care clinics to connect parents with peer support during pregnancy and postpartum. Through this partnership, parents can be connected with WellMama support services directly through their medical care team.

Kids in Transition to School (KITS)

What This Organization Does

Kids in Transition to School (KITS) is a free program that helps your child get ready for kindergarten.

Children ages 4 to 6 take part in fun learning activities that build skills for school. You can also get support and tips to help your child have a strong start in kindergarten.

Programs are available in person and online for families.

Family and Child Health

What This Organization Does

Get support starting in pregnancy or within the first 3 months with your new baby.

Family & Child Health of Lane County offers several family support programs that connect you with a nurse or family support specialist. Depending on your family’s needs, you can receive a one-time visit with a Registered Nurse through Family Connects Oregon. You can also receive ongoing support starting in pregnancy through Nurse-Family Partnership or after your baby is born through Healthy Families Oregon.

Hope and Safety Alliance

What This Organization Does

Hope & Safety Alliance provides confidential support for people and families affected by domestic violence and sexual violence.

You can get help with safety planning, legal support, housing, peer counseling, support groups, and connections to local services.

The organization also offers a 24-hour crisis line, emergency shelter, transportation, food, and basic supplies.

Children can receive child-centered services and respite care while parents and caregivers meet with advocates or take part in support programs.

What This Organization Does

Community Health Centers of Lane County provides affordable health care for children, adults, and families.

You can get primary care, preventive health services, behavioral health care, children’s preventive dental services, health education, and referrals to specialists when needed.

Providers work together to help you stay healthy, prevent illness, manage long-term health conditions, and improve your health.

Community Health Centers works with you and your family to provide coordinated care regardless of age, family situation, or ability to pay.

Food for Lane County

What This Organization Does

Food for Lane County helps you access free food through a network of food pantries, meal sites, and community food programs across Lane County.

Working with local partner organizations, Food for Lane County helps connect you with nutritious food and support for your family. The organization also offers nutrition and gardening education, community garden programs, and opportunities to learn about growing and preparing healthy foods.

Through community partnerships and outreach, Food for Lane County works to help people access the food and support they need.

Homes for Good

What This Organization Does

Homes for Good offers affordable housing programs and help finding housing in Lane County. Staff can help you understand your housing choices and connect with local services.

Homes for Good also offers financial counseling, weatherization services that can help lower utility costs, and ongoing support for residents.

Through housing programs, service connections, and community partnerships, Homes for Good helps people build stable housing and a strong foundation for the future.

Relief Nursery (Springfield)

What This Organization Does

Relief Nursery, Inc., supports you and your young children from birth to age 5 through family support, home visits, parent education, and family advocacy.

Most services and supplies are available to families enrolled in Relief Nursery programs, while parent education opportunities may also be available to parents and caregivers in the broader community.

Staff work with you to understand your family’s strengths, needs, and goals. They help you build parenting skills, strengthen parent-child relationships, reduce stress, and support your child’s growth and development.

Services may include home visits, parent education and support, respite childcare, crisis support, child development screenings, and connections to local services for employment, health, mental health, and children’s activities.

You may also receive support with basic needs such as food, clothing, diapers, and transportation.

The program also offers therapeutic early childhood classrooms and mental health and recovery support for enrolled families.
