Early Learning Program for Black Children

This program for young African American/Black children provides learning opportunities, connects them with other Black children, and supports parents as they help their children learn and grow. Free to all children in Lane County with Black heritage between 0-6 years old.

The program offers:

  • Family visits (at home or in the community)

  • Connection with other families with African American/Black children

  • 1-1 support for your child’s needs

  • Referrals to educational and community resources

  • Free books centering Black experiences

  • Playgroups for Black children

    • monthly at Adventure Children’s Museum

    • weekly at Bethel Family Resource Center

  • Developmental screening for child

Who is eligible?

This program is free for all Lane County children with African American/Black heritage between ages 0-6, regardless of your family’s income or racial/ethnic make-up.

  • BLACKS (Black Leaders Activating Cultural Knowledge to Succeed): Focused on bridging the gap for under-served Black students in Lane County to help students succeed without having to give up who they are.

  • H.O.N.E.Y. Inc: H.O.N.E.Y. provides programs and services centered for Multi-ethnic, Black/African-American, African Diaspora, Indigenous and people of color, of all ages, gender and ability.
